C is for culottes

When last year culottes came banging in as the pants of the season I wasn’t even bothered to stop and consider them as a trend (although they were) much less a possible outfit option for myself.

so...do you like culottes ? Not pants, nor shorts, or skirts, not too long, not too short (actually past the knees is the length), hot in the 60s, 70s, and, as my little brain recalls 80s as well.

It’s a tricky trend. Everyone seems to be scared or reluctant to wear one.

I haven’t been too keen that culottes are a midi length (ending at my calves) which usually makes me look short, truncated and like I accidentally wore my son’s pants.

I also didn’t like the voluminous silhouette, because that style usually works against my short, petite body shape  ( makes me look fat).

Plus I had a fear that culottes would make me look like clown or a hippy.

But hey, when I tried a few pairs of these culottes, I discovered that they’re not that bad. Quite nice and elegant actually! I really liked this one too.

I like that they look tailored, smart and polished. I liked that they looked like mid length skirt. And I like that I can wear a bit more skin up the top to balance it off.
they look quite cute right?

Up beat

Two things that I always have in my makeup bag: a good highlighter and a black or brown eye liner. Simple essentials but boy am I picky about my basics. When it comes to highlighters I’m all about getting the right shade and shimmer. Too much of one looks obvious and achieving a natural glow is key. Sometimes I even mix it with a little foundation for an extra subtle affect. With eye liner I’m all about the consistency and how well it smudges.

LAZY DAY...

:

This is what i've been up to these day:Sleep 12 hours a day including snaps, be lazy and stay at home made fruit smoothie, eat too much ice cream and chocolate mouse cake , procreastinate on everything . Therefore, i've been very unmotivated to take outfit pictures since i didn't feel like dressing up, including today.
however, the weather was beautiful and i had to get out of the house and atleast get my cappuccino :)

The Last Tango: Pyjamas day

The Last Tango: Pyjamas day

It is the last day of the school term, and two weeks of holiday stretch before me. This possibly means that I have two weeks of The KINGDOM driving me crazy, but I am willing to risk it.  I am going to take a step back from blogging over the next couple of weeks.  I have been struggling to find inspiration recently, and I think taking a break will be good for both me and the blog.  You may have noticed I started my break early as I have posted less this week, and it is already paying off.  My mind is buzzing with new ideas that I intend to road test over the holidays.
I wanted to keep the menu (outfits) simple this week

FRINGE TREND

Fringes slapped on clothes or accessories have the magic power of looking trendy, AND versatile. So they can basically go from music-festival-style to office-hours-look. And ALL the styles in between. For ALL ages.
Fringes have been around for years Hello, the roaring ’20s. They were tassels dancing around bodies. It was all rebel yet very very glamorous still. Later on, the 70s brought the fringe back into spotlight with a more bohemian-unglamorous-yet-incredibly-cool take. Fringes on suede jackets or skirts were huge. Then 90s fringes were adorning our cropped T-shirts.
AND Today… centuries later IT'S  BACK
yooo hoooo Heaven. I’m in heaven
Now if you’ll excuse me I’ll just go chop off all my clothes into fringes cause I gotta stay fly, you  know.
.C’mon sing with me y’all
